Have you ever just seen something that was such a cool idea you had to do it yourself? Well I thought that about edible gardening two years ago. I decided that I needed to be growing some food for three reasons.
1. If the SHTF then you'll be left with no grocery store to run to. Where will the food come from? I know most of you will say "Hunt or scavenge!"; and don't get me wrong that should be done too! What you really need to be able to keep from starving is to farm! Farming these crops will bring in constant produce to help give you calories and nutrients!

Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, peanuts, and pole beans!
2. Growing these helps me financially. Can you imagine the food you would save by growing all of your own food? Sadly, I don't have the space or time to keep up with that kind of garden/farm. But even with my about 30 sq. foot garden I save around $50-$60 dollars a year! As I keep expanding that number will grow and grow! That money is better spent stocking up on other needed (and expensive) items.
3. The final reason is for taste. Have you ever taken a freshly picked, juicy, strawberry and plopped it right into your mouth? The flavor is unimaginable! Tomatoes on sandwiches, beans in chili, and crisp cucumbers in salad are what keep me going!
I may have a small garden now but it can only grow larger! Do you garden? What are your favorite garden crops? Send us pictures at our facebook page or leave your story below!
